Numerous deep dark red Spessartine crystals are scattered throughout the front face of this 7 x 5 x 3 cm. specimen. The Garnets are in great shape and contrast nicely against the white Albite matrix. As seen in the images above the smaller Garnets have a lighter and more transparent appearance, while the larger crystal have the more intensely saturated color.

MIMETITE
Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Mexico
This entire 3.5 x 2.8 x 2 cm. specimen is made up entirely of individual, lime green, botroydal groups of Mimetite. The groups are of various shades of lime and varying sizes with the larger and darker mounds at the front of the specimen and the lighter, smaller mounds on the back.

CROCOITE
Dundas, Austarlia
Numerous deep red blades of Crocoite are spread out all along the front face of this 8.8 x 6 x 2.5 cm. specimen. The larger of the crystals are concentrated at the top of the specimen as it is orientated in the image above. The darker black section across the face of the specimen is an area of contact that occurred when the specimen was removed and is not an area of damage. The back of the specimen is covered in smaller, more red and more lustrous crystals.

VESUVIANITE

Asbestos, Quebec, Canada
A grouping of several Vesuvianite crystals make up this 2.6 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm. specimen. The main crystals are of a lustrous, light to medium green color, with purple crystals scattered here and there. All of the crystals in the main cluster are in great condition but there is minimal damage to the crystals around the sides and on the back.

CERUSSITE

A very nice example of reticulated Cerussite from Iran. The sixling, twinned crystals are best viewed along the long axis of the specimen, as shown above, and show a very pronounced snowflake form. This specimen is from the group of specimens that were mined in 2001 and are from Vein #5, 200 meter level of the mine. The specimen is in excellent condition.

AZURITE and MALACHITE

Nice representative example of small, deep blue Azurite mounds that have escaped being altered to green Malachite as it typical from this mine. All but these last 2 have survived and are located pretty much in the middle of this 8.5 x 7 x 4 cm. specimen. Also present are small areas with bright deep blue Azurite crystals, around the sides and on the back and best seen with a loop, along with areas with lighter blue Azurite.

CERUSSITE with MALACHITE
Tsumeb Mine,
Tsumeb, Namibia
A small grouping of Cerussite crystals, measuring 4 x 3 x 2.5 cm. with the Cerussite crystals having grown over tiny, thread-like crystals of Malachite. The Malachite is evident in and on the crystals, as seen in the enlargements, and is best seen with a loop. Although the top of the crystals shown natural pocket contact, there are small areas of damage to the front of the specimen as seen in the images.

MARS METEORITE
Mars, Outer Space
A small, 0.012 gram specimen of Mars, taken from the DAG 735 Mars meteorite that contacted the earth. The specimen is a basalt, Shergottite, and it was found in the winter of 1996-1997 in the Dar al Gani region of the Sahara Desert in Libya as noted on NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, at the California Institute of Technology’s, website. It is housed in the clear container, 5.5 x 3.5 cm., and is clearly visible as shown above.

MOON METEORITE
Moon, Outer Space
A small, 0.003 gram specimen of the Moon, taken from the Northwest Africa 4483 lunar meteorite that fell to earth. The specimen is an Achondrite, a granulitic breccia and it was found in July, 2006 in Algeria as noted on The Meteoritical Societies website, The International Society for Meteorites and Planetary Science. It is housed in the clear container, 5.5 x 3.5 cm., and is clearly visible as shown above.
