                                        CALCITE covering CALCITE
                                                El Hamman, Morocco

Starting at  the beginning, clear Calcite crystal extended in all directions off the top of this specimen. A thin, jet black coating then attached itself to the crystals and these were then partially covered by a subsequent layer of opaque Calcite crystals strategically located on only one side of each crystal. The entire specimen measures 2½ x 1½ x 1½" and there is some dark brass Pyrite, as micro crystals, also on the specimen.

CALCITE
Rosiclare Level, Denton Mine
Ozark-Mahoning Company, Harris Creek District, Southern Illinois

A single scalenohedral Calcite crystal, honey colored and measuring  7/8 x ½ x ½" is placed on a small piece of matrix making the entire specimen 1¼ x ¾ x 1½". No damage to the main or side crystal. Ex. George Feist collection.

On this 1.5 x 0.75 x 0.75", dark brown Calcite stalactite sit numerous white Calcite crystals. Many of these white Calcite crystals have bands of clear Calcite that cut straight through the middle of the crystals and which can be better seen in the enlargements. While on this front face of the Stalactite the white Calcite crystals are further apart, thus allowing the dark brown to come through, the Calcites on the back of the specimen are more close packed and it appears white. The top is terminated with the clear, banded Calcites with the brown Calcite also present. Overall in very good condition.  Certain of the Calcite crystals fluoresce bright red under SW UV.

CALCITE  STALACTITE
Rey y Reina Mine, Charcas,
San Luis Potosi, Mexico

Numerous white to clear crystals of Calcite cover the entire brown stalactite of Calcite thus producing this 2 x 0.75 x 0.75" stalactite of Calcite. The entire stalactite resembles this front face image and all of the crystals are in good shape. Quite different from the darker version above. Certain of the Calcite crystals fluoresce bright red under SW UV.

This band extends from side to side and front to back with a grouping of tiny Quartz crystal located at the base of this 2 x 1.5 x 1" specimen. Four, relatively thin, Calcite crystals make up this 4½ x 4 x 1" specimen. They range in color from dark gray to light gray as you go left to right in the image. There is an area 2½ x 1½" that is covered with iridescent Marcasite that is a rust color. There are some flat Calcite crystals in this area.

                                                                CALCITE
                                                        Hunan Prov., China

This snow white Calcite specimen, often referred to as "Angel Wing Calcite" is made up of sheets of Calcite crystals that extend in all directions from this 4.5 x 4 x 3" specimen. The largest of these crystals measures 3.5 x 2.5" and all of the crystals are in very good shape, with some nicking around the edges. Each crystal is made up of what appears to be flakes of Calcite and the enlargements better show what I am referring to.
