All of the following specimens are CALCITES from Ametista do Sul, Brazil and they fluoresce a bright red under SW UV.

Of course, the first Brazilian Calcite I list would have to not fluoresce red. It actually fluoresces white. This 4.5 x 7.8 x 6 cm. specimen consists of numerous white, slender, lustrous Calcite crystals radiating in all directions from the central matrix. Not too many Calcites from Brazil that I have seen fluoresce this color.

Multiple light cream colored Calcite crystals extend off the front of this specimen. The blue colored area in the in=mage is an area of missing crystals.

This 7 x 4.8 x 2.5 cm. specimen consists of 2 Calcite crystals, off white in natural light and crossing each other at almost a 90 degree angle. Both crystals are contacted on the back and the end of the sideways crystal is missing. Neither of which takes away from the interesting presentation under the fluorescent light.

A single Calcite crystal, off white in natural light, but a bright red under SW UV. The specimen measures 9.5 x 3 x 2.5 cm. and is one Calcite crystal, complete all around, with an angled bottom termination where it was removed from the matrix. The specimen resembles a single, solitary flame when it is fluorescing.

A single, doubly terminated, off white Calcite crystal perched on a small island of Quartz and Basalt matrix. The terminations on this 10.8 x 2 x 2 cm. Calcite are rough but natural and undamaged. Under UV light there is zonal fluorescence within the crystal. With the base the specimen measures 10.8 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm.

Numerous Calcite crystals cover almost all of the front face of this 13.5 x 10 x 3.5 cm. specimen. Individual crystals measure to 1.3 x 0.5 cm. Tiny Calcites also are present on the specimen and also fluoresce red.

Multiple stepped, off white Calcite crystals radiate out from a center point to create a glowing red flower when viewed under UV light. The entire specimen measures 6.5 x 3.2 x 3.5 with the flower section itself measuring 3 x 2 x 1.8 cm. As seen in the images, part of the bottom most crystal of the flower is missing.

Numerous off white to clear Calcite crystals extend in all directions from this 9.5 x 6.5 x 3.5 cm. specimen. The Calcite crystals, measuring to 1.5 cm. are in great condition and if you look closely and orientate the specimen properly, you can see a distinct rainbow, as seen in the bottom right image. A minimal amount of tip loss is present around the edges.
